Genius

She said she was a genius

and scolded me for my inability

to recognise her god given gift

I echoed a dance of the silenteer

for I was sure that to recognise

genius I would need to be a genius

and for her not to know this reinforced

my belief that a genius she was not

but said nothing not wishing to spoil

her delusion besides my judgement may have

been impaired and in the unlikely event

that she should indeed be the genius

she believes herself to be she may very well

revert to type furthermore I was enjoying

my wine and her semi naked body and did not

wish to feel the backlash of a reverberating tongue

knowing that she could and would make

better use of it as the evening rolled on.
